A Review of Noor Kids Books

“My brother and I found purpose: let’s make sure that our children don’t experience the same challenges with their Muslim identity that we did.”     Amin Aaser, Creator of Noor Kids

NoorKids-Aasiya2

My children and I, had the pleasure of reviewing a wonderful set of books by Noor Kids – A Light For Little Muslims, by the talented authors, Amin and Mohammed Aaser. These books are designed for 3 to 8 year olds, but shhh…don’t tell, we have witnessed older kids loving it too! We were amazed to discover that these books have entered over 25,000 homes, and across 25 countries, Subhanallah, that’s pretty popular.

What We Loved About Noor Kids Books

Noor-Kids-Discover-Patience-2_2048x2048We were surprised to see that each book has 2 stories instead of just one – that was a bonus for us! The inside cover shows the main characters right away, namely – Amin, Shireen, Asad, and Amira. This helped my children to be familiarized with the characters immediately and learn some of their personality traits.

My children really enjoyed the quizzes, puzzles, and even some coloring pages that are present in the books, this helped them to interact with the story, instead of only listen and read it.

There is science and history facts to learn which we did not expect but we appreciated, and it is related to the story as well. The illustration quality is vividly colorful and very kid friendly and the characters are cute and easy to love.

Why We Think Noor Kids Books are Educational

Noor-Kids-Discover-Patience-5_2048x2048Each story has a main moral, and remember each book has two stories, so we learned two main morals per book, Alhamdulillah!

The stories have questions that made my children think more deeply about the situation that the characters were facing as they imagined being in their shoes.

There are also Islamic lessons to be learned, such as discovering the names of Allah and what the Quran says in relation to the problem in the story. This made us see how beautiful our Deen is, because it answers the issues we face in everyday life.

The back cover also has Arabic words to teach your children some Arabic, and my kids learned quite a few new words that they didn’t know.

What We Say About Noor Kids Books

NoorKids-Spread2

“I really liked reading these stories to my siblings, because the characters were funny for them and my younger siblings could relate to their personalities.” – Asiya, 12

“When I read these stories to my younger sisters, I felt that it wasn’t just a regular story book, it had activities and each story taught them something good.” – Ismet, 10

“I thought the stories were fun, because some of the stories rhymed and the characters always looked at the positive side of things.” – Sayfullah, 9

“I liked what the stories were about and the characters personalities. I loved that it had coloring and games and that the characters were animals” – Mariam, 8

Muslimommy ApprovedI honestly was pleasantly surprised by Noor Kids Books, because I did not think there would be so much valuable lessons to be learned from each book. My children found it attractive and colorful to the eye, and thoroughly enjoyed the characters dialogue and expressions. I was pleased by the layout and the different presentation of valuable lessons in a format I have not seen in other Islamic books for kids. Noor Kids is Muslimommy approved as being kid-friendly!

Oh how wonderful, I just discovered their website yesterday! Alhumdulillah! I was curious about the age range though and if any of the books cater to a specific age, my daughter is 3. Thanks for your review!

I have previously purchased Noor books and they are great. It would be nice to get a new set. My children loved the stories and characters. I agree with the creator of the books, children need to love being Muslim and be proud of their Identity-in today’s society we are in desperate need of Islamic resources to help our children embrace their Muslim Identity. Alhamdoulilah for these books.

    Assalamu alaikum Wr wb,

Alhumdulillah I’m so glad that I have come across your account on Instagram, thus leading me here. I have subscribed to your posts and love receiving them. I have a 3 year old son & a 2 month old son, Alhumdulillah! My 3 year old absolutely loves reading, Alhumdulillah & I’m constantly on the lookout for good books to enrich his knowledge of The deen & the duniya. I came across Noor kids because of your posts and I must say they are unique and exciting for kids, maashaAllah! I had checked out the sample of The book and loved it. There is so much to learn & that’s how I want the books to be, rather than just some illustrated stories. The best part I loved about it was the ‘questions’ part. It is apt for my 3 yr old’s inquisitive mind, asking questions! Through this Insha’allah I will be able to read with him, guide his thinking and be able to answer his questions as well as learn & question his thinking. Insha’allah We want to order the Noor books soon whilst entering this giveaway and winning the book would be a great start Insha’allah 🙂

Jazakallahu khaira for the review and helping us explore great stuff for our kids. May Allah (swt) increase us in knowledge and make our children the coolness of our eyes always. Aameen.

We have some of the Noor Kids books and my six year old son enjoys them a lot. He has actually tried some of the activities in there completely on his own. Great video as well.

  5. Khadija

These are real issues for real Muslims. It’s great that we can have a way to teach our kids how to handle life situations and to be proud of who they are. So awesome!

  6. Fatema

Jazakallah for the review on Noor Kids, MA I feel fortunate that such books are available for my children. I watched the video posted and wholeheartedly agree that our children should see themselves and their views represented to ensure they’re proud of their religion. I also appreciate the thought that went into the making of these titles and hope to add these to our growing Islamic book collection.

  7. Nazneen K

I absolutely agree that we need to foster confidence in our children’s Muslim identity, and what better way than through reading!

    As-salamu alaikum,

As a convert, I am always looking for quality, educational tools to teach the deen to my children (there seems to be more and more every month, alhamdulillah). This helps me organize my own knowledge of the deen (which is very humble) in order to properly pass it onto my children, insha’allah. zmay Allah (SWT) reward them. Ameen.

  9. Umm Sayf

Very well articulated problem. We absolutely must strengthen our kids’ identity as Muslims living in the west.
Alhamdulillah for these and other books that do just that!

  10. Fatima

My friend Um Sayf just shared your site with me. Awesome work you’re doing sis mashallah.
Regarding video, loved it. Made me tear up in the beginning because although my mom didn’t wear the headscarf when I was young, she was still a “foreigner” so it was embarrassing to have her around because my Muslim identity wasn’t established & nourished at a young age. I hope the creators continue with thier mission.
I’d love to win the set to share with my little girls, I think they’d love it.

  11. Saman

I remember struggling with my Muslim identity growing up. It’s hard being the only Muslim in school. Noor kids looks like great effort to address this problem for the new generation.
